An original oil on wood panel painting of a carousel scene signed by E. A. Weiland. The painting is a wonderful example of how a primitively painted scene can capture ones imagination with childlike wonder and joy. The theme is a little girl on a carousel being watched by her grandfather, who is wiping his brow while holding his jacket on a hot summer's day. A man to the left is holding balloons and a little girl in the center is wearing a sun hat as seen from behind. The painting is custom framed in a large and heavy wood frame. The back of the frame shows the back of the wood panel, the words "Hon. Mention-Oil" faintly written in pencil, and hanging wire affixed to the frame with screw eyes. The painting measures 23 1/4" wide and 17 3/8" tall, and with the frame, the total dimensions are 28 3/4" wide and 22 1/2" tall. The overall condition is very good.
