An acrylic on canvas panel painting of an Iris signed by Arlene Reichard and painted in May 1971. The word that comes to mind when looking at this painting is elegant--the elegant simplicity of Ms. Reichard's depiction of a blooming purple iris with green leaves. Further, the painting is set on a light grayish-blue background to allow the Iris to really bloom in the eyes of the viewer. The painting is housed in a gilt wood frame that shows some chipping along the scrolled edge, and the back of the frame shows the back of the canvas panel and the artist's name, date, title, and medium, and finished with picture hanging wire affixed to the frame with screw eyes. The canvas measures 11 5/8" across and 15 3/4" tall and with the frame the total dimensions are 13 3/4" wide and 17 1/2" tall. The overall condition is very good.
