Old Foley Potters was founded by James Kent (1864-1953) in 1897 in Old Foley, Staffordshire, England. When James died in 1953, his son took over and the company continued to operate as a family owned business until 1981 when it was purchased by Bayer Ltd. After a couple more changes in ownership, the company was renamed James Kent Ltd. in 1989. In 2010 Foley China ceased operations.
