A solid glass mug made by Anchor Hocking for McDonald's featuring Jim Davis' Garfield the Cat on one side happily sleeping with the thought bubble that reads:  "I've Never Seen a Sunrise...I'm Waiting for the Movie" and the other side has Garfield standing and thumbing to a sunset with the thought bubble that reads:  "Such a Beautiful Sunset...and Me Without a Horse."  The mug measures 3" across the rim and sits 3 1/2" high.  The McDonald's logo is featured on the bottom right, “Jim Davis” is written down the right side of the “Sunset” graphic, which also reads “Garfield:  ©1978 United Features Syndicate, Inc.”  The Anchor Hocking anchor is impressed on the underside of the glass and the letters "USA."  The mug is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs, and the graphics are intact, clear, clean, and bright. 

Garfield Mugs from McDonald's

During the 1970s and 1980s, McDonald's offered promotional items to its customers with the purchase of a happy meal.  Jim Davis' Garfield mugs were good quality glass made by Anchor Hocking and sported quality graphics.  So far, I have seen the following mugs and will update if I come across new ones:

1. Side 1:  "The Early Cat Gets the Hotcake" and Side 2:  "This is the Only Alarm Clock I need to Set."
2. Side 1:  "Such a Beautiful Sunset...and Me Without a Horse" and Side 2:  "I've Never Seen a Sunrise...I'm Waiting for the Movie."
3. Side 1:  "Use Your Friends Wisely."
4. Side 1:  "Whoever invented evenings probably invented teddy bears too." and Side 2:  "I'd like mornings better if they started later."
5. Side 1:  "I never met a dinner I didn't like." and Side 2:  "And what will you fellas have for breakfast."
6. Side 1:  "I'm not one who rises to the occasion."
7. Side 1:  "It's not a pretty life but somebody has to live it."
8. Side 1:  "I'm easy to get along with when things go my way."
