Lodenfrey (Munich, West Germany) Navy Blue Wool Coat with Toggle Buttons

$ 20.00

A 100% wool and red plaid-lined winter coat from Lodenfrey featuring a lined removable hat, two side pockets, and closed with four wood toggle buttons.  The original label is affixed inside the coat and appears to be a size large.  The exact measurements of the coat in inches are as follows:

  • Chest:  50"
  • Shoulder Width:  19"
  • Sleeve Length:  36"
  • Length:  37"
  • Cuff Circumference:   14"
  • Bicep Circumference:  16"
  • Hem Width:  25"

The coat is in good condition for its age, with wear to the leather on the front, and two small no-show repairs to the hat lining and the lining inside around the sleeve.  This definitely looks like a "inherited from grandpa" piece.

Will This Coat Fit Me?

Apart from the stated size on the label, we take the following steps to determine a coats measurements:

  1. Bust/Chest:  We measure across the coat from underarm to underarm, then double the number.  For example, if the measurement across the underarms is 15", we double it to get a 30" bust/chest measurement.
  2. Shoulder:  We measure across the top of the coat from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.
  3. Sleeve Length:  We measure from the middle of the yoke, just below the collar band, and measure out to the seam where the yoke attaches to the sleeve and down to the end edge of the cuff on the sleeve and note the measurement to the nearest 1/4".
  4. Length:  We measure from the top of the neckline to the bottom of the hem along the front.

Measuring for Your Size

Using a flexible tape measure, take the following four measurements:

  1. Bust/Chest:  Measure under your arms around your chest at the widest point.  Note the number in inches.  A bra and shirt can be worn with this step.
  2. Waist:  Loosely measure around your body at your natural waistline (Tip:  Bend to the side, and the crease is your natural waistline, usually 2" above the belly button).  Note the number in inches.
  3. Hips:  Measure around the widest point of your hips and rear, usually 8" below the natural waistline.  Note the number in inches.
  4. Height:  Standing without shoes, measure from top of your head to the floor.
