Homer Laughlin China Company and Fiestaware
Homer Laughlin and his brother Shakespeare established the Laughlin Pottery Company in 1871 in East Liverpool, Ohio. In 1907, after a series of buyouts that saw the original owners leave the company for new pursuits, the Homer Laughlin China Company moved all of their operations to Newell, West Virginia where it still operates to this day. Fiestaware was introduced by Homer Laughlin in 1936 under the creative guidance of Frederick Hurten Rhead. Known for its art deco look and circular patterns in bright colors, Fiestaware's designs were virtually unchanged from its inception to 1969. With the exception of a period of no production from 1973-1986, Fiestaware is still being made in the USA at the West Virginia location.
